He was a member of the American Legion Post 446 of Mt. Stanley worked for the former Modulas Corporation, and Montgomery Ward, and especially enjoyed working the family farm. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force who served with the Military Police during the Korean Conflict.

Stanley was a graduate of the former Hurst High School.

Shutty was born Jin Mount Pleasant, PA, the son of the late John and Rose Gambala Shutty. Shutty, age 77 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Wednesday () in the Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.
